Ok, rice is the most common thing in the world. Or potatoes, or pasta, despite where you live. But we bet, you never wander about it’s secrets. Are you ready ?
- Rice can kill you
Sounds so serious? But that’s true. Raw, uncooked rice can be harmful, because does carry bacteria spores that can cause food poisoning. To avoid any food troubles, just cook as much rice as you’ll eat, or cool the rice quickly in the fridge and reheat it to steaming hot.
- You should rinse your rice
Yes, every time, before cooking you should rinse rice in a pouring water. The result is a fluffier pot of rice that doesn’t clump together as much.
- You should soak your rice
For the best results- do it overnight. Soak it overnight, then rinse and cook on the next day. It will wash off all the chemicals, pesticides and harmful stuff. Just a good, clean rice.
- Anti allergic
Rice is gluten free, allergy free and low in cholesterol. So its a lowely guilt free dish.
- Pick brown
Both white and brown varieties of rice contain essential vitamins and minerals, including B-group vitamins and zinc. Brown rice contains more nutrients and fibre than white rice since it retains the bran and germ, where many of the vitamins and minerals are found.
- Wild rice ? Say no.
Wild rice is a distant relative to all of the other rices commonly eaten today, most of which are in the Oryza sativa family. Instead, wild rice is part of the Zizania genus. It’s a grain harvested from marsh grasses grown in North America and China. Source here.
